Biography

Carlos de Nicaragua has been a songsmith, poet, musician, political activist for justice and equal rights most of his 50 years. He is currently associating himself with “Fair Trade” and has recently (may 12 2006) lobbied world leaders at a summit in Vienna for a better price for third world producers. He gives music the meaning it is suppose to represent, i.e breaking down barriers between cultures, religions and politics. He participate in the last album of Mano Negra(Casa Babylon)…which saw him work with Manu Chao. Carlos finds the outcasts and rejects of “right minded society” and he gives them a voice through their talents and in turn he has an extended family of musicians that span the globe from the Bronx to Berlin, Japan to Jakarta and from Zimbabwe to Zion…He is currently based in Le Havre, France, where he is perfecting his Salsa Reggae Rock sound with 6 of his progenies. An album is in the mix and is due for release this summer of 2006. He is very eager to be part of festivals and concerts in Ireland and Britain this summer… As Carlos says “we don’t do biogs” really…it’s not where you’re from, it’s where you’re going…the message is in the music, you feel the reggae vibe as it grabs you from the roots of your feet and you hold on til the salsa swings yu body and then yu let yourself go and have a good time, yes I…Rastafari” (http://www.myspace.com/carlosdenicaraguayfamilia)
