the track 'bluejeans and moonbeams' is pretty good as well. i prefer the captain's pop songs, not the zappa shit.

And to think The White Stripes covered it. And to think I didn't know. And to think I'm going to listen to Captain Beefheart from now on...

Agree with Weejay - but this is still good. Thanks to Pete Smith for introducing me to this track and album a few years back.

"it's the only good track in Bluejeans & Moonbeams" - Observatory Crest is better, sorry.

it's the only good track in Bluejeans & Moonbeams, actually... And it really reminds me of Tom Waits, just like some things in Ice Cream for Crow

This is a great track, with a funky back-beat groove and a sound that Tom Waits fans might easily mistake for Waits. This isn't as out there as his more fringe expeditions, such as Trout Mask Replica, and may fall into a zone of too commercial for die-hard Beefheart fans, but it's accessibility is perhaps a good thing for those not already enthused by the Captain's works. I love it.
