  • I listen toCapleton and Buju too (Til Shiloh onwards anyway, though I like his take on Ring the Alarm) , but I don't think it's as simple as 'can't dance to politics' - gay men have been beaten to death in Jamaica in the name of supposed 'religious morality' . I wonder how many people would use the same argument to justify listening to Skrewdriver or neo-fascist folk music? The old testament morality in integral to the music - even if he's toasting over old dancehall / rocksteady riddims - you can't ignore it.
