New York, United States (2005 – present)

Cameron Mizell is a born on October 30, 1980 in St. Louis, MO and now living in Brooklyn, New York. Since 2005, he’s fronted a jazz/funk organ trio featuring Brad Whiteley on keyboards and Kenneth Salters on drums. Mizell’s style has been described as a combination of the groove and sparse playing of the Meters’ Leo Nocentelli with a more modern harmonic approach. His list of influences include Bill Frisell, The Meters, John Scofield, Grant Green, and James Brown.

Mizell has released three albums with his own group. His most recent release is Tributary from 2010. His debut self-titled album was released in 2004 and employed a larger 8-piece ensemble for most of the tracks, along with a few straight ahead jazz guitar trio cuts. In 2007, he released Life Is Loud with his organ trio, including Brad Whiteley on keyboards and Mike Fortune on drums.

Along with his own albums, Mizell has recorded with Lauren Zettler, Little Grey Girlfriend, Stellar Ego, Montgomery Bruce, Dunham Van Durham, Erika Lloyd, Matt Ketteman, The City Billies, and more.
