About this album

Fashion Nugget is the second studio album by Cake, an alternative rock band from Sacramento, California. It was released in 1996, and contains 14 songs. “The Distance” became one of the band’s biggest hits. On December 9, 1996, the album was certified gold by the RIAA, and the next year, the album was certified platinum for shipments of one million copies. In the United States, the album received a Parental Advisory sticker for profanity in the songs “I Will Survive,” a cover of the Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris song that originally did not have said profanity, and “Nugget.” All songs written and composed by John McCrea, except where noted. Album - Billboard (North America) Singles - Billboard (North America)

I'll tell you what I love about this album - it's the singers constant "alll right" and "okkkay" in the background. Always makes me smile!

Never listened to this album in its entirety until just now, and even though I don't feel like it's their strongest album, it is so diverse and focuses on so many multiple genres it's impossible not to give them credit for appealing to so many audiences.

I'd love this even better if I could find an uncensored version. Still, what a gem.

Embracing the highs and lows of this album is key to enjoying it. You'll know you're there once you find your foot tapping to "Stickshifts and Safetybelts" and when you smile when "Nugget" comes on.
