Biography

There are at least two artists with the name Caddis:

1. a metal band out of Texas, USA
2. a nu-metal band out of Perth, Western Australia from the late 1990s.

1. The Texas band called Caddis consist of Andrew-Drums, Ben- Bass/very few vocals, Matt- Guitar/vocals, Nate- Guitar/vocals. They are apparently inspired by Wierd Al, Motorhead, Slayer, Mastodon, Overkill, Botch, Sleep, Eyehategod, High on Fire, Motley Crue, Venom, Iron Maiden, Discharge, anything loud and angry.

2. The following is a review of the Australian Caddis’s album from 1999.

“Coming right smack in the middle of the height of the Nu-Metal movement, Caddis was one of a bunch of local bands riding the crest of that trend. In the late nineties they were gigging everywhere and as often as they could, and were gaining some popularity, particularly with the ladies. In 1999 they released their first and only album, [album]Use only as Directed[/album], an album that they financed by winning a studio time in a big battle of the bands contest. Having a sense of cracked humour, The cover of “Use only as Directed” was a old toaster brutally rammed full of large knives and still plugged in. Why the hell not.

Nu-Metal is a catch-all term we use to describe a wide range of bands and their recordings, but there are always variations in style and technique. The general guidelines of Nu-metal were that the music be heavy in sound but written in a catchy pop way, fat and detuned guitars, drums to be be played with aggression but basic in comparison to extreme metal, vocals to be delivered in a tone far less violent than black or death metal but open to extremely varying interpretations
