There are at least two artists by the name of James Yates. 1) You may recognise James Yates (the one currently residing in Berlin) from his skin hitting duties in the The Pattern Theory. His solo show involves organic electronics, drums, and looped percussion, amongst other things. Four Tet or Battles are amongst his reference points... Philip Bailey of '70s supergroup Earth, Wind & Fire produced the singing group Free Life, who charted with the Epic single "Wish You Were Here." The Bailey-written ballad peaked at number 91 on the R&B charts in early 1979. The single and the album Free Life had EWF influences.
Multiple artists share the name Mainland. 1. Mainland is made up of four New York City transplants – by way of California and Upstate New York – who met each other at rooftop parties in the summer of 2010. They quickly formed a following around Manhattan and Brooklyn, ultimately getting profiled in the L Magazine’s noted “8 Bands You Need to Hear" issue, an annual cull of must-hear groups.
Get Help is a veritable supergroup of unknown musicians. Formed by Tony Skalicky of Boston, MA’s beloved The Beatings, and Mike Ingenthron of NYC’s beloved Microdot, Get Help was started as a side-project as Skalicky and Ingenthron took a break from touring with their own bands.
