Easy Life (6:13)
From Groovy, Laidback And Nasty and 2 other releases
This is the album in which Cabaret Voltaire proved their mettle as artists by reinventing themselves to keep up to date with the music scene they had helped to create. As the early pioneers of an industrial movement which died gracefully in an epilogue of electronic and heavy synthetic sounds, their vision helped a phoenix to arise from the ashes of disco death in Detroit: the new Techno scene was borne in Detroit after Disco had been murered, and hence it picked up a dark tone from the underground industrial sound.
Techno’s brethren, Chicago House Music, took Detroit Techno’s rolling beats and knob tweaking and mutated them into an uplifting tribal fusion that inclined one to dance. Cabaret Voltaire garnered the services of Chicago’s Ten City, and Cabaret Voltaire was born anew. That is where Groovy Laid Back and Nasty picked up the pieces and brought Cabaret Voltaire into the thriving dance music scene.
