Biography

(2004 - Present)

CROW’SCLAW is a doujin circle led by guitarist, bassist, and composer Taka (). The group produces and records original heavy metal works and arrangements of video game music, most notably the Tsukihime, Fate/stay night and Touhou series. According to the official website, the group draws its musical influence from musicians like Zakk Wylde, Rob Flynn, and Ettore Rigotti.

Taka is notable for engaging in various different styles depending on the release. The first significant style difference was seen in 2007 when he released Frozen Frog, in various soft rock styles and blues. He began producing works with vocalists in 2010 with the album From the Bottom of the Heart. The vocalists he’s worked with include 池田奨, めらみぽっぷ, 3L, 綾倉盟, and mintea.

In addition to his own works, he has participated as a guest performer and mastering engineer in other artists’ work, notably S.S.H., Taishi, and Pizuya’s Cell.

I hate it because Over The Rainbow is the greatest thing ever, and FtBotH is superboring.

I really don't get all the hate FtBotH gets. I really like it, actually. Sure, its not as good as, say, BGfRoD, but it's still solid. His new stuff has 3L involved? I gotta find me some of this.

I gotta say, BGfRoD and Frozen Frog are pretty sick albums, recced them to people not even into touhou and they enjoyed it. ZUN is a magnificent bastard and he provided us with some awesome music to build off of.

Funny thing is that their acoustic E.P isn't even in their Official site's Discography... I hope it's just experimental stuff and nothing to be confused with their future, "main" productions...

Really? I thought YAMAGEN's sound was pretty consistent overall. I gave Blackened Fangs another chance and they're not terrible - half bad at screaming, but they at least fit the style. It's still a better album than Lightning Discharge.

FTBOTH is a highly underrated album... I really appreciate his soft stuff too, I was hoping he would return to some vocals after FTBOTH. I never want to see YAMAGEN again, though. First track on the crossfade sound nice, others look like they might deliver.

"Your recent transgressions against all things metal are forgiven, Taka." <--And then he goes and spits in your face. If that so-called "acoustic" album is any indication, the previous album was a fluke. Abandon ship! It's From The Bottom Of The Heart all the way down!

I would say that Lightning Discharge lies somewhere between Over the Rainbow and Crossfire Barrage. It has pretty nice melody, yet contains some harder riffs. Overally it's a return to Taka's original style. And that's awesome.

Lightning Discharge is pretty 'soft' to me. And hey, YAMAGEN aren't that bad. I kinda like their vocals.
