Burning Astronomers are a two piece song writing group hailing from the muddy banks of the Mersey (Birkenhead side of the river) and the silt filled backwaters of the Severn delta in mid west Shropshire.

Influences include Roctopus and other artists

Burning Astronomers have released a new EP titled English Gothic on 17th February 2013.

Their earlier records titled The Belmont Larches and Severn Delta are featured on this site, plus the Peace on Earth EP, and an album of rare songs and oldies from the archives titled Flotsam and Jetsam Drifting in the Jovian Sky.

Their music has been described as nursery rhymes with a twist of lemon. In more general terms they are guitar based contemporary pop/folk/psychedelic tinged songs written in the classic tradition of British 20th/21st century songwriters such as Syd Barrett, David Bowie, John Lennon, Roger Waters, Nick Drake and beyond.

Burning Astronomers were formed in many years from now and the line-up consists of:

Guitar, Vocal, percussion, effects - Neil Byrne
Guitar, Vocal, percussion, tea & sympathy - Simon Baker

All songs are conceived, written, performed and produced by Burning Astronomers.
