About this album

Burial’s self-titled debut album was released in 2006. While the genre is usually filed under dubstep, there is in fact much more going on here. Ambient and garage often get used to describe the album. This album was very unique and fresh when first released and quickly rose Burial to the top of the dubstep scene. At this time, his real name was not known and he released music simply as Burial.

I'm having a hard time imagining what sort of tastes cause a person to consider this or Untrue as "cheesy" lol

"Cheesy and annoying?" This is great music. Some of the best in any of the electronic genres in the past decade.

Meh. Not as cheesy and annoying as Untrue, though.

This record is great. It seems less accessible than his newer releases - I was drawn in by Rough Sleeper – and the more I've listened to him, the easier it is to approach his older releases, and boy it is rewarding. Such cool music. I love all of his releases including the festive poppy Come Down to Us. this guy is a hallmark of electronic music and will be remembered.

The best Burial, for sure. The time-stretched vocals on Untrue are chessy and very annoying. This one is his peak: dark, tense and atmospheric. And I could listen to Prayer all day <3

I think I prefer this one to Untrue... sometimes the high-pitched vocals in Untrue are a little cheesy.[2] This exactly. I also happen to prefer the vocals on the more recent EPs rather than on Untrue.
