The first time I listened to this I immediately thought, what the fuck? Situation and Talkin' Honky Blues are way better than this, and I considered it a write-off. Then I listened to it again a year later, and this is by far his best and most diverse album.

blood of a young wolf is one of the best tracks i've heard all year. i agree with lateniteradio, 50/50 for me also, but even so i agree with duif, this is by far his best album, the great tracks are really great.

disappointing? this is light years beyond any of his other works imho. too bad he returned to safe old hiphop later on.

It's 50/50 for me... Tracks like "The suffering machine", "Surrender to strangeness", "The floor" or "Drunk without drinking" rank among his best, but others like "Kennedy killed the hat" or "Devil's eyes" are totally mediocre and weigh down the quality of the album as a whole. Yeah, a little disappointing, maybe, but a fantastic piece of work nonetheless...

Only 2 shouts?! Come on. I used to think it was a little disappointing compared to his other albums, but listening to it tonight I can see that I was plain wrong. What an understated piece of art.

Most of the Tortoise members played on that album, maybe that's why. But still I agree with everything you said... except the fuck part.
