Definitely prefer the original version over the newly recorded version. The new version is a bit bombastic and I don't like Morello's vocals at all. I do think the new arrangement works very well in a live setting.

Morello's solo, HOLY SHIT. I feel it going through my body like a temple.

Love the Morello version, but that may be because it was the version I saw when I saw the boss play live. The emotion in the song by the entire band was unlike anything I've seen before or since and on a personal level, that has carried over to the recorded version. Original is still fantastic obviously.

Actually prefer the original to the RATM version, which is weird as i am a massive fan of RATM but Springsteen just owns this song and always will

That guitar solo just went just a tad too far. I like Tom Morello and like the arrangement but what works on a solo live doesn't always work in the studio. I think it could have been reigned in just a touch.

Close to a perfect song, Tom Morello adds alot! True music, there doesn't have to be someone singing every 10 seconds use your imagination and appreciate the melody!

With the High Hopes version, Springsteen and Morello tried to recapture the energy of their live performance of this song from 2009's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concert, and they didn't quite pull it off. Even though it's a literal note-for-note studio transcription of that performance, the live emotion just doesn't carry over to the studio recording. That said, it's nice to hear the intricacies of both Springsteen and Morello's guitar work that can't be heard on the live recording, and it's still a great rendition of this song.

The guitar-bit goes on way too long and isn't that interesting. Just self-indulgent noodling. Puke.
