HUGE frickin' difference between the Promise remaster and the original release! The remaster sounds marvellous... those instruments are so much clearer and crispier

I met her on the strip three years ago in a Camaro with this dude from L.A., I blew that Camaro off my back and drove that little girl away, but now there's wrinkles around my baby's eyes and she cries herself to sleep at night. When I come home the house is dark, she sighs "Baby, did you make it all right?". She sits on the porch of her daddy's house, but all her pretty dreams are torn.

It brings a tear and a smile.. some feeling of nostalgia for a life I've never even come close to experiencing.

Minor point of contention: a 69 chevy w/ a 396 would not have fuelie heads. those are for small block engines only.

Tempted to say this is the best song on "Darkness on the Edge of Town". Certainly one of Bruce's finest compositions.

The best song by Springsteen, and that's saying a whole lot. This song could be a movie or a short story. Filled with both hope and despair. It doesn't get much better than this...

The more I listen the better it seems to get, which is incredible given how good it was first listen. Beautiful it certainly is, powerful too, gets me every time. The Hyde Park version is truly mesmerising.
