Princess cards she sends me with her regards
Barroom eyes shine vacancy, to see her you gotta look hard
Wounded deep in battle, I stand stuffed like some soldier undaunted
To her Cheshire smile, I'll stand on file, she's all I ever wanted

The Hammersmith '75 version is as naked and beautiful as music gets. Absolutely magnificent!

Agree with you, Amusings_bnl. My cut off (except for very few gems) is "The River" in 1980. He got a bit commercial, trendy, and too mainstream for me. I DO still see him in concert, though. After all, he IS the Boss!!

Bruce sounds a little 'Dylan-esque' because he will be the first to tell you Bob Dylan was a MAJOR influence on his work!!

but i like the fucking rough vocal... i think it's apples to oranges in comparison. MMEB's version is fantastic, but i love this.... i can't listen to any bruce after the whole born in the USA bit. to me, this is bruce.

Again, Manfred Mann's Earth Band cover version was superior. Bruce's vocals on the original version are way to fucking rough. A little too Dylan-esque.
