This album got me through a year of pushing carts at Walmart for minimum wage when I was twenty years old. Thanks, Boss! You have no idea what these songs meant to me then.

This, Darkness On The Edge Of Town, & Nebraska are all tied for my favorite Springsteen project. He set out to make the greatest rock and roll album ever, and no one can argue this belongs in that discussion.

Finally have it on vinyl, and happy birthday!
25 Aug 2015, 2:20pm

So much passion here, I have to stop everything I'm doing when this album starts playing.
5 Mar 2014, 2:24pm
This album is pretty funny when you imagine Silvio from the Sopranos playing the guitar.
2 Feb 2014, 2:16am
This could be the greatest lyrical album ever recorded. So, so, so amazingly incredible.
21 Aug 2013, 8:52pm
@AR2LO__ You probable cant think of the third because there was no third. Born to Run was his third album. Why be mad? This stuff all happened 40 years ago now.
23 Mar 2013, 5:13pm
remember when this first came out--1st heard it at a party and it was a real slap in the face--I thought --"What is this?" "Who the hell is this?"---not your normal eagles etc.... party fare

I hate this music so much. I can't stand it at all and I don't understand why and I feel like I must be missing SOMETHING in it when I listen and I hear what I hear. Like, was this really The Hold Steady's biggest influence? They sound nothing alike and The Hold Steady is leagues better. I just can't grasp what the appeal is.

I never thought I'd get into Springsteen's music. This album is fantastic.
8 Jul 2012, 6:47am
It took me a long time to get into this album but I eventually did. I was never really a fan of the "wall of sound" type of productions. Im more into the raw stuff like Darkness or Nebraska. I finally got into this one about two years ago. A real piece of studio art. Given he was on such a short leash with the record company at the time its amazing he was able to pull off such a great sounding album. I would have thought they'd try to give him the least amount of money as they could get away with at the time.
5 Jul 2012, 11:20pm
his first truly great album.
17 Jun 2012, 12:44pm
One of the greatest albums ever made.

Ridin' on a Thunder Road or Hidin' on a Backstreet? I don't know...but baby we were Born To Run. Thanks Bruce.

Thunder Road :)
25 Jun 2011, 4:28pm
My favorite record ever. Amazing.
20 Jun 2011, 11:11pm
well, the reality is that clarence clemons was cut out of that frame - to speak of the record sleeve reverentially in the wake of his passing seems hypocritical and sort of pointless. this was hardly a 'breakthrough' for african american culture.
19 Jun 2011, 4:01am
RIP Clarence Clemons. No one will ever be able to replace you. Can't believe I'm actually emotional over this. Listening to this for the first time in quite a while.
1 Mar 2011, 1:45am
If you were expecting "tight, stadium rock" then I'm not surprised you're disappointed. But I think the problem is with your expectations, not with this record.

Hey impronen, obviously you have no respect for the story-like lyrics. You know...it's not for everyone, but you have to give credit to his ability to convey a strong message.
28 Jan 2011, 8:54pm
I listened to this for the first time in my life a few months back. Have to say that, since I was expecting a tight, stadiumrock record, the reality of it was quite harsh. Theathratical musical songs played via electric guitars, accompanied by cheesy horns. Not to mention the silly, silly lyrics. One of the most overrated albums ever.
6 Dec 2010, 3:20pm
music doesn't get much better than this
14 Nov 2010, 4:15am

25 Jun 2010, 7:14pm
This album is perfect.
27 May 2010, 11:00pm
i really wonder what this album would have sounded like if carter and sancious had recorded the whole thing instead of just the title track. espcially since a lot of the songs are quite piano-heavy
