Biography

(2003 – present)

Brown Bird is an American acoustic band. Pulling from the influences of the blues, outlaw country, roots rock, early American folk, Gypsy and Eastern European music, Brown Bird offers harmonized voices, haunting lyrics and diverse rhythm and instrumentation, which surges in waves that often swell into high-spirited, foot-stomping madness.

Brown Bird began in 2003, and has since toured extensively, including a European stint supporting RI-based band The Low Anthem. The band went through several lineup changes before settling on its current form as a duo:

David Lamb: vocals, guitar, banjo, percussion
MorganEve Swain: vocals, violin, viola, cello, upright bass

Past members:
Jeremy Robinson (accordion, banjo)
Jerusha Robinson (cello, vocals)
Mike Samos (lap steel, dobro)
Special guest:
Micah Blue Smaldone (bass)

The Band has released four albums to date:
‘Tautology’ (2006)
‘Such Unrest’ (2007)
‘The Bottom of the Sea’ (2008) (Peapod Recordings)
‘The Devil Dancing’ (2009) (Peapod Recordings)

Their most recent EP “The Sound of Ghosts,” released May 10th, 2011 on Supply&Demand Music, is available on their website.

Their new full-length, “Salt For Salt,” is out now on Supply&Demand Music.

Loving Fits Of Reason with the new electric guitar driven sound and the addition of cello to the whole picture. There's a bit less of that outlaw-country violin in it but it's great nevertheless, especially the lyrics which keep on kicking me out of my seat, as they did on previous BB albums. Keep up the good work and tour Europe ffs :)

"i tried to be good, i was a failure, so i took to taking all the good men down" -- I have been remiss. I have only found you as of today. I apologize. I shall be purchasing all of your music and giving it the playtime it deserves. <3

If Sassparilla and The Devil Makes Three had a baby, that baby would be called Brown Bird.
