Broken Links are:

Mark Lawrence - (Vocals/Guitars/Synths)
Lewis Betteridge - (Bass Guitar)
Phil Boulter - (Drums/Percussion)

Diving into the lyrical and musical depths of free association, taking you on an emotional rollercoaster of despair to complete arousal. Influenced by the under-currents of post-punk, and then boxing it up into an old stone box made of pure hard industrial pop space rock and sin. A band you simply cannot ignore. An alternative act from Eastleigh, Southampton, UK, the three piece is made up of Mark Lawrence on vocals and guitar, Lewis Betteridge on bass and Phil Boulter on drums. They are heavily influenced by 80’s music and artists such like Joy Division, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, The Cooper Temple Clause, Manic Street Preachers, The Chameleons, Massive Attack, and Bush.

‘The Fine Line Between Choice/Decay’, follows up the release of Broken Links debut EP ‘Resisting Movement and the Almost Advisory’, re-released in January this year. MintSOUTH recently said of Broken Links “Unsigned bands shouldn’t be this professional.” They may have only been together for a year, but their development as a band is clear, and their second EP is testament to how they have matured in this time. Broken Links’ Mark Lawrence describes ‘We wanted to go a bit wild with the 2nd EP, and we’ve done exactly what we wanted to do musically, it’s a 41 minute ride to the dark side!!’

2009 saw Broken Links perform over 80 live shows, including appearances at the Eastleigh and Alresford Music Festivals, and have taken their sound to Germany on tour twice in 2010.

First impressions... Almost hymnic and a little less angry, even a certain Pop appeal in moments. I love the aesthetics of your electronic sound, as usual. 'A memory of Home' is edgy and haunting. The last song is the official TCTC reminder :) very beautiful... by the way, you are now side by side nr 10 and 9 in my all time charts, nice, hey? I hope the official voices will be appreciating your great work as well!

Oh, what a mountain of technical difficulties! What a shame... must have been soooo frustrating for you. And from the listeners point of view: the Bass was almost completely muted, to mention just one thing... What a pity! But even so, love the songs and was glad to see you again. Hope the other night was easier (still sad for not being able to attend). Well next time then! Hope you enjoyed Berlin though, apart from that...

Beautiful gigs in Berlin! Thank you so much! Even though the K17 was almost empty, which was a shame. Maybe the Party for free in the opposite building was to blame... But you were phantastic, both nights, and extremely intense, very special...and I've seen many band's. Somehow everything comes together: the songs, the voice, you three as musicians...it all adds up to something magnificent. Honestly, you deserve a huge crowd and I hope success will find you soon...So now that I again declared my love for your music I close with a final thanx!

...spontaneous thoughts: finally I could listen to the new songs and they are really amazing. Couldn't yet decide which song I do love most. Personally I must say that for me you actually kind of fill the emotional gap that TCTC left. And I hope you take that as the compliment that it's meant to be (It's not a comparison, I know that's annoying). It's wunderful that you experiment and don't try to be pleasing, which results in that special intensity.... so, awesome music, thanx !
