Interesting that is like James Mercer's second/side music project besides The Shins. Even so I really like this really experimental music with Broken Bells. So glad it got created. Broken Bells (album), After the Disco (album), and the Meyrin fields (EP) are all really good which is pretty much all the content they have put out. Not bad.

Yes, stop complaining and just bask in the awesomeness that it Broken Bells. This is the kind of music people will look back on and not in the "why on earth did we think this was good music?!" but the "listen here yung'un, this is music". (I guess so.....actually, not really)

Danger Mouse composes the best melodies I've heard: "purple yellow red and blue", "Citizen","10 Lovers","Black","Going On" and so on. I don't understand why he doesn't make his stand alone music...
  • Avatar for frikiloko
You can identify clearly what has composed each one on "After The Disco", for instance the bass line of the track 8 or 9 are composed by Danger Mouse, whilst the track 7 is clearly composed by James Mercer. Judge for yourself, I would remove James of Broken Bells

surely James isn't struggling for money? i have no idea why he would turn to making radio music for 14 year old girls.

I loved 'The Ghost Inside' but found the rest of the debut pretty dull and samey. I'm enjoying individual tracks from 'After the Disco' a lot more.

After The Disco is really nice. A marked improvement over their decidedly dull self-titled debut.

it's accessible, hooky and poppy, but is that always a bad thing? I am subjected to awful eletrco-dance-pop 3-4 times per week at my gym; now *that* shit is generic and this is a breath of fresh air in comparison. [2] THANK YOU.

I just realized how cohesive and beautiful their album covers are. I'm really digging the new album.

only love for the new album.
  • Avatar for harryduns
The new album is really growing on me; sure, it's accessible, hooky and poppy, but is that always a bad thing? It still has depth if you look for it; there's a streak of darkness running through it which intrigues me. I'd take this over the most recent Shins album any day, far more interesting record. People are saying it's generic, but I am subjected to awful eletrco-dance-pop 3-4 times per week at my gym; now *that* shit is generic and this is a breath of fresh air in comparison.
