Brinkman think it’s all very simple: write a load of honest melody-drenched lyrical pop songs and watch even the meanest of people grinning like fools and doing the conga (it happened once). With hearts on sleeves and occasionally tongues in cheeks, they’re not afraid to sing about their obsession with (one particular) Hollywood film starlet or going dancing on a Friday night. If you need to decide whether you think you’re going to like them before you’ve heard them, these comparisons have been known to help - The Kinks, Lemonheads and Squeeze. They released their debut single ‘Kirsten Dunst’ on Oct 9th 2006 via Label Fandango. They are supporting Travis on their March and May 2007 UK tour dates.

So I was wondering what happened to Brinkman, thinking that they should have released their debut album by now. I had heard nothing from them for months after an excellent tour with Travis made a big impression on me. So I wrote an email to them on their MySpace, and Paul wrote back saying that they had SPLIT. :(

Brinkman are a great band with a lovely vibe about them. I saw them at the Hammersmith Apollo in May and loved it, checked out their music and loved it even more. They create such a full sound with just 3 members and I don't know of any other breakthrough bands with more promise than Brinkman. Look out for them in months to come!

ooo! This is quite good, actually. I'm going to see Travis in May and Brinkman are supporting, so it should be cool...
