Japan (2001 – 2013)

There are at least two bands named “Bright”.

1. BRIGHT is a Japanese pop/dance group formed by Mizuki Inoue, Nanaka Kobayashi, Nagisa Shigemura and Megumi Nakaya. All 4 girls are under the Avex and Rhythm Zone label and graduated from Caless vocal and dance school in Osaka.

2. Bright is a post-rock and ambient music group based in Brooklyn, New York. Bright formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1993 initially as a recording project, with Mark Dwinell (guitar, vocals) and Joe LaBrecque (drums) creating songs with minimal vocals, extensive Krautrock-influenced improvisation and repeating measures. Initial raw sessions were documented at the Albatross Guest House on a 4-track recording machine and were later overdubbed. A cassette tape culled from these recordings initially released on Eek records made its way into the hands of Ben Goldberg at Ba Da Bing! records. To fill out the group and facilitate live performance Bright brought more musicians into the fold – Jay Dubois (bass) and Paul LaBrecque (guitar, trumpet)

In 1996, they released their eponymous self-titled debut on Ba Da Bing! records with veteran studio engineer Jacques Cohen (Mercury Rev, Silver Apples, Jerkwater) recording.

    IT BREAKS MY HEART...I CANT BREATHE....and to add insult to injury, they deleted their blogs and all of their Twitter pages,...it's almost as if they never existed...i will ALWAYS love BRIGHT. They can sing like nobody's business.

    so underrated [4] They're so underrated it sickens me! Beside Ceiling Touch, they are by far my most played artist this year. I wish I could by 10 million copies of their albums to make sure they stay afloat...I hate the music industry sometimes.

    It sucks how recently nanaka's always in the spotlight. [3] Whoever is marketing them this way - with Nanaka as the star and the other girls as back up - doesn't realize that the beauty of BRIGHT are the unique voices of the individual girls. Nanaka can sing, but Mimi is a powerhouse, and both Nagi and Meg have such unique qualities to their voices. While I love this group and mostly wish that they'd go back to their "One Summer Time" style where everyone gets to sing, I'd personally rather Nanaka break away from the group and let the other three carry on with BRIGHT. It isn't fair to have to see/hear only Nanaka in every one of their new releases. Their single with that guy was practically a duet with Nanaka and the guy (Yu something?);

    im glad that "Dear my friend" and "儚くて" in their best album have all the members singing and not just Nanaka having the whole song to herself

    It sucks how recently nanaka's always in the spotlight. [2] i totally agree with you on that...im really disappointed and annoyed that the other members dont get to sing as much like before; it was the main reason why i liked BRIGHT the first place. if this carries on Nanaka might as well go solo >_>
