Chatham’s Brigadier Ambrose are a diverse four piece band made up of David Goggin, Karl Butler and brothers Matthew and Daniel Boorman. Brigadier Ambrose first achieved national acclaim with their debut single ‘How Popular You Are’, which came out in April 2007. This was treated to substantial national radio airplay from Huw Stephens (BBC Radio One) and comedian Phill Jupitus (BBC 6 Music), leading to a BBC Maida Vale session for Radio One in June 2007. The band performed a dogged set at the Latitude festival a month later (having narrowly escaped serious harm in a motorway accident with a juggernaut whilst travelling to the festival) which was also broadcast on Radio One.

Their debut single was followed up by the quick-fire ‘Decembered’ and the languid ‘Mrs Peel We’re Needed’ singles, both upping the critical acclaim for Brigadier Ambrose whilst enjoying handsome airplay on BBC Radio One and Two. A fourth single, ‘Police/There’s Been A Murder In Nasons’, a tour with BBC Introducing and various high profile festival dates and London shows cemented their cult status.

Brigadier Ambrose released their debut album ‘Fuzzo’ in February 2010. The band maintain that they are not particularly bothered by vast commercial success and seem quite happy to keep a cult fanbase.
