1. Leeway was formed in Astoria, New York, USA in 1984 by guitarist A.J. Novello and vocalist Eddie Sutton under the name The Unruled. They played alongside groups such as Crumbsuckers, Prong, Ludichrist, Bad Brains, and Sick Of It All at the predominantly hardcore punk-oriented CBGB venue and had metal influences from the start. Guitarist and songwriter A.J. Novello said:
Supertouch started in 1985 out of the ashes of New York hardcore band Death Before Dishonor, which featured a young Mike Judge on drums. They released a demo but no actual records. Supertouch, named after a Bad Brains song, had a different drummer than DBD, since Mike went on to Youth of Today and later, Judge, but it still had the Yu brothers on strings and of course Mark Ryan on vocals.
86 Mentality was a punk/hardcore/oi band from Washington, DC comprised of former members of Longshot, No Justice, and Crispus Attucks. They played their last show March 22nd, 2008 at The Bobby Fisher Memorial Building in Washington DC.

The Rival Mob bring a style of hardcore back to Boston, MA that has almost become a distant memory. Playing at breakneck speed, the sound is reminiscent of old DC/NY hardcore bands meshed with big riffs that will stick in your head.
Founded by Myke Rivera (Aka Puerto Rican Myke) on the mean streets of the South Bronx, NYC in the Fall of 1994. District 9 formed from the ashes of Myke's previous metal tinged hardcore band Close Call. One of the key bands in the second coming of New York Hardcore that exploded onto the scene as part of Kevin Gill's Striving For Togetherness Records (SFT) family of super talented bands.
Virginia Beach based band that sounds like Warzone up until their Open Your Eyes LP... With a voice like the late Raybeez, a sounds that can only be described as NYHC (before it went into the Breakdown variant of metal-tinged mosh) and screeching solo's, they area breath of fresh air in a scene that was mostly focused on making the kids mosh.
