A self-referential piece, "Requiem for a Scene" cleverly points out the stereotypical traits of "scene" or "hipster" behavior. It pushes irony in a very serious way: effectively making fun of itself for and by using the very targeted style. Its witty and well written, and contains a level of musical sophistication that is generally lacked in its genre. It is, however, worrying, that such efforts can be made to satire, where with the same effort a real song could be made. This song may be very smart, and very cool, but it isn't real; just like the "scene" which this song mocks.
