Marcus D was born in Auburn, a lower class suburb 30 miles south of Seattle. A melodically adept music producer heavily influenced by early jazz musicians and Japanese producers such as Nujabes and DJ Deckstream, he creates captivating and beautiful music revered by hip-hop enthusiasts and non hip-hop enthusiasts alike.
Substantial is synonymous with hip-hop, from the U.V. Ink label he launched, to the lyrical dexterity of his common-man flow. His debut solo album, To This Union A Sun Was Born (Hyde Out Productions), did well everywhere, especially in Japan where it hit the Top 10. This success set off a career touring Asia, Europe and almost all of North America.
Kenichiro Nishihara (西原健一郎) is a Japanese producer with a yen for jazz and hip-hop. But in his capacity as a keyboardist, he also shows a keen ear for incorporating a little classicism into 2008's Humming Jazz . He has worked with hip-hop producer Nujabes on various occasions 2) DSK was one of the bands from producers Lawrence Davis, Joseph Louis Stone & Paul Klein, a.k.a. Davis-Stone-Klein. They had their biggest hit with "What Would We Do". DSK was fronted by Nefertiti, Joi and Patrix.
