Boom Boom Satellites/ブンブンサテライツ are a Japanese electronic music duo consisting of Michiyuki Kawashima and Masayuki Nakano. Their music can be mostly described as Big Beat which often features electric guitar.
the´re often called the japanes chemical brothers, but they sound a lot heavier and the final product has a strong rock or punk flavor and in some tracks they flirt with jazz and a lot of experimental things.

The duo joined forces in 1990, while attending university. The band name is from a Sigue Sigue Sputnik song.

Biography

— Taken from homepage —
A rock unit of Nakano Masayuki and Kawashima Michiyuki that surfaced in Europe in 1997. By integrating electronic and rock elements they continue to create pioneering music and are one of the most distinguished producers in Japan.Their first 12’ single release in Europe triggered rave reviews from definitive European music magazines such as Melody Maker who compared their debut impact to the Chemical Brothers and Prodigy. In 1998 they travelled across Europe performing at 6 major rock festivals and following a European tour with Underworld they triumphantly returned to Japan to release their first album ‘OUTLOUD’ in October of the same year. They then moved their base of live performance to the US and joined Moby in a 3 month tour around the states and subsequently receive remix requests from many artists such as Garbage and Josh Wink. This success was followed with the energetic releases of albums ‘UMBRA’ and ‘PHOTON’ and further performances at various festivals in Japan including the Fuji Rock Festival.Philosophically pursuing the spiritual world at the same time physical and untamed, their sound is an exquisite blend between the roughness of rock and meticulously calculated programming and has received approval from many creators home and abroad.Oliver Stone and Luc Besson are just some of the film makers who have given high appraisal to the sound of Boom Boom Satellites who worked on the soundtrack for the main scene from the film ‘Yamakashi’ directed by Luc Besson. Their unique live performances are renowned for the overwhelming energy and spiritual space they create and taking part on the soundtrack of the much talked about anime film ‘Appleseed’ written by Masamune Shiro has taken them to new heights in 2004. February 2004 saw the release of their new single ‘Spine’ and March 2005 will see the release of their much anticipated new album ‘FULL OF ELEVATING PLEASURES’ which with a gospel rock ‘n roll suggests the unveiling of a new chapter in the history of Boom Boom Satellites.
