Boho Fau and Orakl met back in 2006 at the Grand Star Jazz Club, in Los Angeles, showing support for a mutual friend. In a short period of time, they realized that they had similar musical interests, one being huge fans of J-Dilla and Pete Rock. For months, they emailed beats back and forth, and exchanged constructive criticism on finished projects.
The project started when Orakl sent Fau a beat. After three hours, Fau came back with lyrics about a guy checking out a girl he sees in a coffee shop. Together, the beat and lyrics evolved into “Coffee House Swingin’.” That song was the springboard for the rest of the album, and the subsequent tracks kept to that theme. Since the independent release of “Coffee House Swinger” in May 2010, the album has received love from all over.
