Born in Sacramento,California at Sutter Memorial Hospital July 14 1966.Bob Stubbs
Started playing drums at 11 years old.Bob received his first drumkit from Joe Von Hagel Around 1977.Joe Von Hagel was the drummer for a local Sacramento,CA. band at the time called “the TWINKEYZ”.Bob Stubbs’ first live performance was in the quad area at El Camino High School, where Bob played unannounced with 3 other students doing cover songs of some of their combined rock music heroes.At the last song of their short set ,performing the Who’s “My Generation” Bob smashed up the borrowed drumkit he played on. From that performance Bob instantly gained popularity locally.
In March 1981 Bob formed a small band in Fair Oaks,Ca.that was called “the Guttersnipes”,including a guitarist (Johnny Support) from another local Sacramento,CA. band “Child Support”.In 1982 Bob left home at 15 and moved to the Downtown area of Sacramento,CA.There, Bob Stubbs made friendships and alliances with a number of the local punk rock scenesters & local punk rock bands at that time.From that,Bob Stubbs played drums for numerous local Sacramento,CA. punk rock bands such as-“The Lamos” , “Circle Kross” , “Local Chaos” , “The Vacant” & ” Lockwork Range Co. to name a few.
In December 1983,Bob moved from Sacramento,CA. to Los Angeles,CA. then Downey,CA. & finally Fullerton,CA. with his longtime friend Briton Holmstrom.
Bob Stubbs , Briton Holmstrom & John Maurer started to form a band together called ‘the Last Fetish” in early 1984,but before they played 1 show -Bob Stubbs & John Maurer were recruited by Mike Ness to join ‘Social Distortion”.
