We live in a political world
Where love don't have any place
Were living in times where men commit crimes
And crime don't have a face

Yes! Perfect opener is right. Just another in a long, long string of them for Dylan, though.

Or Trouble: "Since the beginning of the universe, man's been cursed with trouble." Same theme smoking down the tracks here.

Yeah, I think that's the point: everything is broken, y'know? Dylan's idea is both that the world is thoroughly gone wrong, and that human nature hasn't changed since the olden days, meaning that the world's been wrong since... well, think Pressing On: "Adam given the Devil reign. Because he sinned I got no choice, it run in my vein."

Good instrumentation, abominably moronic lyrics that talk out loud and say absolutely nothing. I'd have preferred an actual statement in a song called "Political World" instead of a string of dead-horse clichés. "We're living in times where men commit crimes/And crime don't have a face"?! When the fuck in history doesn't this statement apply?

I love the workmanlike head of steam this cooks up. One of Dylan's very best 80's track; his most wild hit-and-miss era.

Good driving rhythm to this song, great production from Lanois. I like Dylan's voice on here, has a bit of gruff to it and isn't void of expression like his 2000s voice.
