Real cool, twangy, foot-tapping, cheeky-grinning number here. Folks forget what a funny guy Dylan is.

Somewhere back around 1965, I went to a church youth party at Sandy Rymer's house. We were listening to singles (45 rpm vinyl records slightly larger than a compact disk with a big hole in the middle and only one song on each side). Someone had brought "Like a Rolling Stone" the flip side of which was "Gates of Eden." Man, one listen to "Gates" and I was hooked. My whole Weltanschauung (worldview) was forever changed. At my request, my grandmother bought me "Bringing It All Back Home" and "Highway 61 Revisited" for xmas that year. "Darkness at the break of noon. . .to understand you know too soon, there is no sense in trying." Right F****ing On.

Easy Blues line and chords but Bob's voice makes the song catchy.
