I've thought about that before, Ralf. As another involved and epic story song of course it would fit, but my concern would be that, given the reportedly brutal heat of the summer Desire was recorded, and the way you can hear the torpor in the sound, they'd slow it down too much, or make it a little too heavy or stately. I love the Minnesota group's saloon swing so much; I'm not sure it could be bettered! (I also like that Blood on the Tracks has this long story-song in there to provide a whole other spin on the romance/lost love/breakup issues prevalent in all the other songs. Nice change of pace, and a brilliant partial-deconstruction of Dylan's own unattached drifter myth—his favorite, and admittedly a most appealing one!)

You know what Jacek...... what if this had been recorded with the Desire band, and on the Desire album?

My favorite on the album! A damn good story, impeccably presented, with perfect band accompaniment. What more could ya want? Nine minutes of it? Yeah, you get that too.

Lily's arms were locked around the man that she dearly loved to touch, she forgot all about the man she couldn't stand who hounded her so much. "I've missed you so," she said to him and he felt she was sincere, but just beyond the door he felt jealousy and fear. Just another night in the life of the Jack of Hearts.
