“It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)” is a song that appeared on Bob Dylan’s fifth album, which was released by Columbia Records on March 22, 1965. Described by one his biographers as a “grim masterpiece” the song features some of Dylan’s most memorable images, although some people feel it has too many words.

It was written in the summer of 1964 and was first performed at his October 31, 1964, concert at New York’s Philharmonic Hall where Dylan introduced it as “It’s Alright, Ma, It’s Life, and Life Only”.

Listening to Mr Dylan's 5th album "Bring It All Back Home" released March 22.1965. Dylan started to distance himself from the protest and folk. This album was considered a new era in the evolution of Mr Dylan's music and music of the 60s in general.

I'm not sure "fuck off" counts as an "insult," exactly. "You're a big poopyhead," now that would unquestionably be an insult. Opinions, anyone?

As I said, there are some great live versions. The one I'm getting isn't one of them.

"Crap"? I usually don't resort to insults, but fuck off. The lyrics are up there with the best ever written.

The lyrics are a mix of great and crap. Not unusual for Bob.

Old lady judges watch people in pairs, limited in sex, they dare to push fake morals, insult and stare, while money doesn’t talk, it swears.

Disillusioned words like bullets bark as human gods aim for their mark, make everything from toy guns that spark to flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark. It’s easy to see without looking too far that not much is really sacred! While preachers preach of evil fates, teachers teach that knowledge waits, can lead to hundred-dollar plates. Goodness hides behind its gates, but even the president of the United States sometimes must have to stand naked!
