Bob's piano lead and the game backing band on the Oh Mercy outtake are wonderful, but the fuller 1994 studio and MTV Unplugged versions are even better. Every single verse of this thing is excellent, so the more the better!

Great delivery (and writing) on "someone showed me a picture and I just laughed; dignity ain't ever been photographed!"

The Oh Mercy outtakes are better than any of the tracks that ended up on the album ...

Footprints runnin cross the silver sand, steps goin down into tattoo land. I met the sons of darkness and the sons of light in the bordertowns of despair. Got no place to fade, got no coat, I'm on the rollin river in a jerking boat, tryin' to read a note somebody wrote about dignity.

I like the piano version of 'Dignity' on Tell Tale Signs. :P

Tell Tale Signs versions are kind of boring. Love the pep of the Unplugged version and the bluesy, soulful Greatest Hits version.
