Bob Dylan is the album from American Bob Dylan. It was released on March 19, on Columbia Records, when Dylan was 20 years old. It features two original compositions, the rest being old standards, and was produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label.

nah that's not why I like it. If you maybe pay attention you will notice that he's very confident and passionate and he plays his heart out on the guitar you get the sense of someone about to kick the whole world in the ass. It gets better the more you listen to it, so after 20 years and countless plays, it finds itself on the top of my list.

I love his hat and the cover, but it's not his best album. I think people only like it because it's his first and they're just being nice because it's Bob Dylan, but his work after this album is much better. [2] I agree. it isn't a bad album, but it doesn't hold a candle to what comes after. just a fun little debut.

I consider it my favorite. maybe 15 years ago I may have thought it was a bit of a skipper, but it's timeless and keeps getting better and better the more you hear it and after all these years I still get a thrill when I listen.

I revisit this once or twice a year to see if the penny drops this time. Alas, not this time. Love "Talkin' New York" and there's 3 or 4 alright songs here, but overall it doesn't tickle me.

After the album shifted just 5,000 copies in its first year, reaching No.13 in the UK and absolutely nowhere in the States, Dylan was nicknamed "Hammond's Folly" by waggish Columbia execs. They'd soon be eating their leopard-skin pill-box hats.
