About this album

Bob Dylan is the album from American Bob Dylan. It was released on March 19, on Columbia Records, when Dylan was 20 years old. It features two original compositions, the rest being old standards, and was produced by Columbia’s legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label.

After the album shifted just 5,000 copies in its first year, reaching No.13 in the UK and absolutely nowhere in the States, Dylan was nicknamed "Hammond's Folly" by waggish Columbia execs. They'd soon be eating their leopard-skin pill-box hats.

I love this album so frickin' much. Yes, it's all covers but one. But the acoustics and the emotion in his voice were never duplicated quite like this again. I love these covers. :)

I love his hat and the cover, but it's not his best album. I think people only like it because it's his first and they're just being nice because it's Bob Dylan, but his work after this album is much better.

if he didn't wear that hat, it would've been a good cover.

i agree meister, what's wrong with with loving both this`album and highway 61 revisited? i mean they are both amazing albums, just because someone may like this one better doesn't make an album with one of the best songs ever written ball suckingly useless. wtf
