very bright and visually impairing. like trying to regain ones eyesight after staring at the sun for too long... or those hypnotizing scenes caused when the chop at the waters surface refracts incoming sun light, creating a dancing frenzy of bouncing sun-rays under the water. much of the same vibe as mukhinabaht, i find, but much more psychedelic and all-encompassing; the epic conclusion... too good.

I've never been so absorbed by a piece of electronic music. So many different textures, so many different moods. Psychedelic.

I can't find anything dark in BoC songs. What really amazes me is how you can almost feel and taste some of the sound effects, it's incredible.

I know that Boards of Canada try to make dark music, and I know that everyone else agrees with them that their music is dark (or at least just says that it's dark because that's what Boards of Canada themselves say it is, so it must be so), but I can never find anything dark about children's voices for some reason. Also, the weird structure and effects in this song just make me think of hot air, summer, and maybe some kind of haze or dream-like fog; it's almost like the textures in the song are tangible or physical at times, just like it is with a lot of their other work. This track sounds like reflecting on childhood, perhaps vacation spots or other worlds that were fantasized about when younger by the "narrator." Maybe there's darkness in the sense that something is missing from life, but I don't feel paranoid or afraid when I listen to this stuff at all. It sounds otherworldly, but almost in a neutral way.

The "An eagle in your mind" sample has always sounded to me like "In an eeeevillll fraaame of mii-i-iiind...". In fact I only just realized it is, in fact "An eagle in your mind"!

For some reason when I listen to this I picture a malevolent machine that gathers solar energy and releases it in bursts of lethal radiation. Not a very chill image.

Probably one of their more unnerving tracks, I've found it hard to listen to lately. Still fantastic though.
