    wow, loved the description...! expresses perfectly the feeling it inspires...no matter what mood i'm in, this song always gets me...it's so utterly saddening yet so incredibly soothing and sweet at the same time...just...wonderful...! definitely one of my most favourite songs!

    Yeah, the sound from 3:10 onward is completely haunting. I think it may be because it's reminiscent of a siren wailing and gives that sense of some impending sad fate. In fact, it kind of sounds like a mechanised scream. Or maybe it's so haunting just because it's so harsh and constant compared to the gentle, wavering keys and vocals it accompanies. Well, for whatever reason, it makes the winding down of the song somehow uncomfortable and definitely adds to the melancholy. Brilliant song.
