Biography

Stockholm, Sweden (1998 – present)

Bloodbath is a Swedish supergroup formed in Stockholm in 1998 when, one evening, friends Mikael Åkerfeldt, Anders Nyström, Jonas Renkse and Dan Swanö, had the idea to play death metal in the realm of Entombed, mixed with some of the US Florida death metal scene bands. Quite simply, Bloodbath was born out of this shared admiration for quality death metal in the old style & the guys quickly realized that they could churn some ugly metal out to a pretty high standard.

Mikael Åkerfeldt left Bloodbath about a year after the release of “Resurrection Through Carnage” because he wanted to focus on his more serious group Opeth, but he still performed with the band at Wacken 2006. Peter Tägtgren replaced Mikael Åkerfeldt for the Nightmares Made Flesh release. He then returned to the band in 2008 and left again in 2012.

On September 16th, 2014, it was revealed that Paradise Lost frontman Nick Holmes had been selected as the band’s new vocalist. The band has completed recording and mixing their fourth full-length album “Grand Morbid Funeral”, which will be released on November 17th, 2014 through Peaceville Records.

The mixing in the new album is terrible. Guitars are muted, singer isnt defined enough. Can hardly hear the kicks. Terrible.

versionfiv: Ambitious statement for a random internet guy who doesn't know a lil' thing about me personally, my collection or the bands I listen to (except these charts I gatherd in almost 4 years). But, oh well... clap clap. You unmasked me. Magician. Definitely. Nah... not really :)

    Holmes>Akerfeldt. There's a reason Mike doesn't growl anymore. :|

New album is awesome! Very pleasent to listen an entire Holmes' growl performance. Maybe it's not the most original thing in the world but try something different is always welcome. And if you can't deal with that... go and listen to the 13 "always-the-same" Cannibal Corpses's records.

If people complain about this record they don't deserve new music, AKA, Bloodbath just shit on the whole retro-OSDM scene for jumping on their bandwagon.

Yeah it's better than The Fathomless Mastery, but that isn't saying much. Breeding Death, Resurrection Through Carnage and Nightmares Made Flesh are still their best releases.

nordpolar... if you listened to more underground bands instead of just nuclear blast's and metal blade's entire catalog, you'd not be making that statement

I absolutely don't regret buying the super deluxe ultra-fat XXL elite package of the new album. Grand Morbid Funeral kicks ass like a fucking beast!
