About this album

Music By Cavelight is Blockhead’s debut album. It was released on the Ninja Tune label March 23, 2004. The entire album is with some scraps of vocal sampling.

Apparently, Blockhead had finished this album three years prior, in 2001. Blockhead wasn’t currently signed to a label, however, so he and his manager looked for a label to release the album. They eventually found Ninja Tune, sent them a demo, and the album was released. The sound of his album fit perfectly with Ninja Tune’s sound. Blockhead simply claims ‘it was fate’.

Scratches were provided by Omega One, guitar and bass by Damien Paris of Brooklyn-based band The Giraffes and violin by Baby Dayliner.
