Does really sound like throat-singing. Also, he was born in Brenham, just down the road from me, currently here in College Station. Song wraps up tenderly.

@ CompSimpCarl ... Because at the time when they played, there were few resources and opportunities for a blind black man. They had to make a living someway. There was little slack for free-loaders... Blues offered them an opportunity to be self-supporting.

When he changes his voice in the middle he almost sounds like a Tuvan throat singer.

Wow, divine intervention. No lie… I was thinking how much I needed to hear this song to give me a lift and by the grace of god it came on by random. Wow… thanks big guy. You added a tear to my eye but made me feel way better. You rule Blind Willie!

Holy shit... that gravel grit he puts in his voice in the middle, what a great transition. Reminds me of Howling Wolf.
