11 years ago, me and a friend were walking down some stairs in our school when the guys that walked in front of us started singing the eponymous line - one of the more epic memories from back then :D

This song is too damn short, it can't properly handle all the epicness.

--Game of Thrones spoiler-- This is for Ned Stark: "..The crack of doom, Father Your handsome son is heading home / Still the wind blows, calm and silent Carries news from a distant shore, Sorrow and defeat.." (your son, Robb.) --Spoiled out--

yesterday i was in a pretty f.cked up situation; while i was trying to cross some bridge and failing over and over again, a witch(or a bitch, you name it) releasing her giant tortoise-dogs on me. all my friends were dead and i was extremely sad. the ending of this song (approximately 12:55 and later) playing in background of dream and i woke up. the radio was on. "and then there was silence" was playing. i was crying dammit. And then there was silence...

Listening to this song is actually like reading a synopsis of the greek invasion in Troy. Mythology and factual history are hard to discern sometimes, and Homer definitely has some historical influences in his epic tales. I have a kept an amazing 2000-word analysis on this song from the old BG forum at least 10 years ago, when I used to listen more metal in high school. Hansi did a great work on this one.
