Blaine Long

A singer/songwriter from the American tradition, a constantly-evolving artist that writes and sings original songs that are based on life experiences. He’s lived his music, survived his life, and goes forward with all lessons learned.

Blaine grew up in Tempe, Arizona and came from a strict Christian upbringing. There’s no denying that spirituality can be heard in many of his songs. Not liking high school, he left during his sophomore year only to find out what the real world is like without an education. From fast food to digging ditches and many odd jobs later, Blaine discovered the guitar, singing, and especially song writing. From 1993-2000, Blaine fronted a band based out of Tempe and released a couple of albums playing in bars and any other venues that would have them. The band broke up and Blaine released his first solo acoustic album, “South of Jarvis” (2003). He began playing solo at coffee shops and bars. Believing in the phrase, “Never write or sing about what you don’t know”, he moved to Colorado on a whim with little more than his guitar and dog, and ended up in Boulder for a year. He kept working on his craft of songwriting and playing guitar. The next year (2005), Blaine found himself living on a boat in San Diego, working as a house painter to make money to record “Slip 250” (2005).
