Biography

Blackpool Lights are a rock band from Kansas City, MO. featuring members of The Get Up Kids, The Belles, The Start, Buffalo Saints, and The Creature Comforts. The band was formed in the Fall of 2004 by Jim Suptic and Billy Brimblecom, and they were joined shortly after by Brian Everard and JD Warnock.

After recording an EP and a LP in Spring of 2005, Blackpool Lights spent the remainder of the year on the on the road headlining a tour with Lucero. JD left the band in November 2005 and was replaced by new guitarist Thom Hoskins(buffalo saints, the belles)in early 2006. Thus a temporary replacement was filled by Chris Tolle (The Belles and The Creature Comforts) while the band supported Social Distortion on a U.S. tour. In September 2007 after many guitarists line up changes, former tour manager, Chris Clark (Seven Mile Drive, Crash of ‘29) took over the reins of rock just before the band started a tour with The Ataris. Shortly after, long time drummer Billy Brimblecom left the band and was replaced by Jerad Meadows in time for the band’s tour with The Forecast.

Blackpool Lights debut full length album “This Town’s Disaster” (Curb Appeal Records) became available everywhere June 20th, 2006. In 2007, their song “Ain’t Nobody Gonna Stop Us Now” was chosen as the official anthem for the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer.

Last October I was at the Get Up Kids show in Vienna. I went to Matt and gave him a few cd's, so he could sign them. Accidently I also gave him the Blackpool Lights cd. Jim was standing like 4 metres away from Matt, who immediately smiled when he saw the cd. Then he shouted to Jim: "Jim, hey Jim! Look what this guy just gave me!" And Jim was like: "Hey, wow man. Back then this was biiiig hit!!!" :D After that Jim told me that the album was a flop. So he kinda made fun of himself, which I found quite funny. Those guys are totally relaxed. Love them! Anyway, Jim was also suprised that I even had it, because it's long out of print, as he said... but I bought it from ebay for just one lousy euro.
