Black Marble

Black Marble is one of the latest and greatest additions to the Brooklyn synthwave lexicon. Their stark, alienating textures cloister a vaguely hopeful intensity, like a lone and distant rhythm echoing from the hull of a lost deep sea vessel. Reminiscent of early DIY synth recordings, which pitted emotional undercurrents against wan dystopian landscapes, Black Marble’s sound struggles to squeeze blood from monolithic concrete.

Collaborators Ty Kube and Chris Stewart take their inspiration from a disparate group of past musicians who dared to mix punk ethics with cold electronics, resulting in an enigmatic, handmade style that recalls the isolated-but-uplifting feel of early European minimal and coldwave music. Triumphantly bleak but undeniably infectious, Black Marble’s debut EP Weight Against the Door arrives, appropriately, at the height of winter.

I didn't think you were whining, it's okay. Overall, it's unfortunate you had a bad experience. It's a good thing you're understanding about it, though.

Some people really just don't like being put in the situation of having to hand over a cigarette, even if it was offered to be purchased. I'm not defending any of his prior possible doucheness, I'm just saying that cigarette confrontations from strangers can be uncomfortable.

Sorry to hear about victimofkratina's experience interacting with "synthguy". I know people that tour, and hearing it from them it can be a very arduous experience. The beginning and end of a long tour can seem as tentpoles where things are relatively good. By contrast, the middle can be the darkest part of the tunnel so to speak. I've seen hard touring bands have both great and crappy nights on the same tour. Airborne Toxic Event comes to mind. Anyway, while your interaction with the band was not fun, I hope and doubt they are always that way with fans. I for one want to see Black Marble as A Different Arrangement is some of the best music of its type I've heard in some time.

i can understand why victimofkratina was pissed off and how the douchiness of a band member can absolutely kill the good vibes. it's hard not to associate bad feelings with a band's music when someone from that band that you supported and listened to is a prick. it's too bad that a handful of the most amazing music comes from the such assholes, but one has to forgo this fact in order to just enjoy the music, because the music after all has nothing to do with the asshole. it's the assholes production, like their baby so to say. parents can suck but their kids can be great.
