Stavanger, Norway (1993 – 1995)

Black Lodge was a band from Stavanger, Norway. Originally named SekstiSoneSatan. The band was formed in 1993 and split up after the release of their only album in 1995.
Cold, bleak, dissonant doom metal with female singing and deep growls (but hardly one of the “beauty and the beast” bands that are so prominent in metal). An interesting doom band that uses plenty of experimentation. Musically, they have some similarities with old Unholy due to the avantgarde and unconventional song structures. Very little is known about this band other than their release on Head Not Found/Voices of Wonder entitled ‘Covet’.

If you are here for the French industrial black metal band, please fix your tags, the correct name is Blacklodge.
If you are here for the native American group, please fix your tags, the correct name is Black Lodge Singers.

Covet was a pretty good album, it reminded me of Unholy. I think it's funny how the singer ended up joining Sirenia.

'Covet' is very much like early My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost

Covet is the best release of the 90s. Not up for debate.

Covet is a great album, with Mother Urge as outstanding track!

listening to the doom metal band now. "dissonance" reminds me of first album theatre of tragedy, especially the production/guitar sound and the growls. the growls are so emotive though! this is great!

The Native American Artist in question is either "The Black Lodge Singers" or "Black Lodge Singers". Hope this helps.

There is supposed to be some progress on sorting out the multiple Artists with the same name here on I don't know when this will trickle down to the lesser known artists though. On some Artists pages we can now vote on the correct name and spelling, but multiple Artists with the same name will need their own page, and that still leaves the Scrobbling issue to solve. I hear that the "Fingerprinting" data they have been collecting should help sort the Scrobbles.

I'm confused, i'm listening to a traditional Round Dance, it really doesn't fit w/ the band description. I think this is mislabeled somehow.
