Black Light Saints are a culmination of five gents who have been submerged within the Chicago music scene long before this project came to life. Experimenting with, postpunk, disco, and indie rock. Black Light Saints produce an indie party soundtrack to the backdrop of the Chicago scene. What initially began as late night jam sessions and insomnia-induced writing, quickly developed into a creative effort that pushed the guys to get down to business. The result was a sound that thrives off of live performances ending in dance parties and leaves a wanting for more. The band’ s collaborative vibe is comprised of their mutual kick for getting down and having a good time—which is exactly what you can expect from their debut album, Impossible Picks. Britton Wetherald’ s distinct sarcastic vocals and quick lyrics depict his personality to a T, along with that of band members Ephraim Cuellar, Alex Barandi, Danny Lucero, and Fonz Mayen whose drums, bass, guitar, and synth sounds blare along with irresistible beats. In October 2010, the band released their first 7-track EP Impossible Picks, which has been highly received by their live performances at Schuba’s, Metro, Debonair, Streetside Café and The Art institute’s After Dark series held in the modern wing. Black Light Saints completed their first tour, ending at SXSW in Austin,Texas. 2011 had the boys opening for French indie outfit Jamaica, playing Wicker Park Fest, a North Coast after party, opening for Japanese Pop Stars at the Mid, with gigs at Metro, Cobra Lounge and Viaduct Theatre in between. You can also check out Black Light Saints’ Impossible Picks on iTunes.
