Biography

Black Henbane is a singer/songwriter, guitarist and home recording artist from Cologne, Germany.

His pseudonym refers to a plant (Hyoscyamus niger in Latin) which has been used by medieval witches for many purposes, because of its remarkable properties. It is not only beautiful to look at and very poisonous, but also said to have healing, aphrodising and halluzinogenic effects - all qualities that also make up a good pop song.

"Kismet Candy Store" is another step forward. It's a delicate, diverse and very colourful album of perfectly crafted songs and inventive ideas. Its multi-layered character doesn't prevent it from being very accessible and distinctive. "2 a.m." in particular tends to instantly crawl underneath one's skin.

Woaw, this is nice. The music is quite dark and seems to disturb my mind.

I'm not sure if you're interested, but I have some of my music here on last fm too. If you'd like to listen and leave a comment, it would make my day. Just listened to "Picturesque Ruins" and I like it a lot, I had expected something dark, loud and unsettling, but to my pleasant surprise it's actually very catchy, introspective, gentle and breezy, good songs with a slightly mysterious undertone (especially the second half of the record). I can definitely spot the influences, I hear traces of Eels, Low, Blur, Cohen, Sparklehorse, Radiohead ("Touch Of Night") etc. Good stuff. The overall atmosphere it manages to create is really pleasant.

This is actually really good! I can hear some Leonard Cohen and some psychedelia in there. And I absolutely adore your voice.
