Biography
Goiânia, Brazil (2005 – present)
Black Drawing Chalks is a Brazilian hard rock/stoner rock founded in the city of Goiânia, Brazil in 2005. Its members are Victor Rocha as guitarist/vocalist, Renato Cunha as guitarist, Dênis de Castro as bass guitarist and Douglas de Castro as drummer.
The name came from a German trademark of drawing material, which was of great influence in the life of the band members.
In 2007, they released their debut album, Big Deal, on the label Monstro Discos. After the album release, the band toured Brazil. In the same year, they opened for Nashville Pussy, their idols, which became a frequent tradition. The band had already played side-by-side with bands like The Datsuns, Motörhead and Eagles of Death Metal.
In 2009, Black Drawing Chalks released their second album, Life Is A Big Holiday For Us, again with the Monstro Discos label, after a tour in Canada, where they played on Canadian Music Week.
With frequent media exposition, long tours and playing in big Brazilian festivals, the band got three VMB09 (Video Music Brazil 2009) nominations, in the categories Aposta MTV (MTV Prospect), Rock Alternativo (Alternative Rock) and Videoclipe do Ano (Best Music Video), with the song My Favorite Way.
