Biography

Bitcrush is the escapist solo project of Mike Cadoo (ex-Gridlock member). Contrary to his work in Gridlock and his earlier solo project as Dryft, Bitcrush strives to fuse live instrumentation with experimental electronica’s glitch-centric production techniques. His debut album (entitled Enarc) released in 2004 on Component Records was, by the artists admission, a snapshot of his musical history thus far. In early 2008, a follow-up EP was released via n5MD sister website en:peg Digital entitled Shimmer and Fade. Shimmer and Fade featured heavily processed digital fluctuations blended with genuine percussion, shimmering guitars, interwoven dual bass guitar work and a sprinkling of vocals throughout. Bitcrush is continuing to expand upon this style of fusing emotive electronics and live instrumentation to create post-rock and downtempo music.

I wouldn't even call it post-rock at all. But it's really good no matter the genre

To be honest, Collapse has put my faith back in Post-Rock as an emotional genre of music. I was listening to Collapse in the car this afternoon and thought 'wow this really sounds like Bitcrush' until I realised I was having a blonde moment. I add Bitcrush to The Autumn Project as being the epitome of Post-Rock. That being said, I haven't heard anything since In Distance. I *guess* i'll check out the electronic side at some stage, but I entered this zone via Post-Rock to begin with and am not ashamed of that fact.

Collapse is great, but I miss the electronics.

The new album is quite simply the best thing Mr. Cadoo has ever done. Stunning. Imagine a collaboration between him and Nadja *gasp*

Wow wow wow! What a find. I have not stopped listening to this guy since I discovered him. Listened to all his albums back-to-back while writing my Thesis up the other day. Perfect music for this kind of thing. I think I prefer the earlier stuff, but its all very good. SOmething tells me that I will be getting this back catalogue ordered very soon.

It contains the right amount of energy and relaxation through beats, ambiance, and overall continuity/progression. What I really enjoy is when I feel like my mind is delicately flowing through time and space like leaf that has fallen into a slow-moving stream. It's just so beautiful the way the music flows.
