The daughter of a concert pianist, fifteen year old Jasmine Van Den Bogaerde, A.K.A. Birdy, has been playing the piano since the age of five. Her haunting cover of Bon Iver’s ‘Skinny Love’ was a YouTube sensation and reached No.17 in the UK chart in May 2011.

    It pains me to see this cover get more popular than the original. She takes away all of the warmth, the delicate instrumentation, the painstaking intricacy, leaving nothing but a cold, empty piano and her hollow voice.
