Overview: The former hip-hop duo comprised of emcees One Man Army (who now goes by the name of One.Be.Lo) and Senim Silla (which, backwards, reads “all is mines”). Production handled by the Trackezoids who are headed by Decompoze and One Man Army. Originally from the Detroit area (Pontiac) aka Waterworld. The duo split up after releasing Masters of the Universe (2001) due to some issues regarding compensation for the album (Senim claims that he never saw a cent of the profits). One.Be.Lo now lives in Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor, Michigan and helps run Subterraneous Records. Senim Silla can now be found with Sleeper Cell Records.

Discography: As a group, Binary Star only dropped one full length album, Masters of the Universe, in 2001. However, you may run across a previous version of this album (that has a slightly similar track listing including a couple songs left off MOTU) which is known as Waterworld.

*NOTE* If you ever find Waterworld somewhere cheap, GRAB IT! There were only a few thousand printed, so it is a very rare album.

Misc: The group formed after One Man Army and Senim Silla spent some time in prison (One Man Army was sentenced for armed robbery). OMA calls his time in prison “the best thing that ever happened to me,” as it not only allowed the group to form, but gave him time to collect himself and eventually convert to Islam. One Man Army does not like to dwell on his time in prison, although it did provide content for Binary Star’s songs “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” Parts 1 and 2.
